Deutsche Golfplatztage enter the second round
  • Golf Congress: extreme climber Glowacz on "Mission Adventure"
  • Registration for Golf Business-Cup in progress
In September 2010, the golf sector meets in the Exhibition Centre Nuremberg for four days to discuss the construction, maintenance and management of golf courses. The Deutsche Golfplatztage (German Golf Course Days) with some 100 exhibitors take place for the second time as part of the GaLaBau exhibition from 15-18 September. The Golf Congress 2010 parallel to this offers a varied programme with top speakers on 16-17 September. The event starts with the Golf Business-Cup on 15 September. The event is supported by the following German associations: Deutscher Golf Verband (DGV), Professional Golfers Association of Germany (PGA), Golf Management Verband Deutschland (GMVD), Greenkeeper Verband Deutschland (GVD), Bundesverband Golfanlagen (BVGA), and the two publications "golfmanager" and "Greenkeeper's Journal & European Journal of Turfgrass Science".

The Golf Congress offers a series of interesting presentations on topical issues from the golf sector, as revealed by an extract of the programme. The speakers on the first day of the congress include Stefan Glowacz, who is one of the foremost extreme climbers and a self-made entrepreneur. His mission is adventure. He reports on personal experiences on partly highly dangerous expeditions and how he manages to keep a cool head under extreme pressure in order to make the right decisions. After this, Panos Meyer, Managing Director of Deutsche Golf Online GmbH, presents new trends in the online segment and their significance for the golf club. He tackles questions like: Is it sufficient for a golf club to have a home page, communicate by mail, use an online registration form and send a weekly newsletter? Or does today's golf club need to have an iPhone application and network over Facebook? For the second day of the congress, the speakers obtained include the qualified Personal Coach Toni Carriero, who is regarded as an expert in motivation, personality, rhetoric and sales, and is one of the most popular seminar providers. He gives tips on how golf clubs can obtain new customers and keep the existing ones.

The Golf Congress will be shorter than in 2008 to give congress participants enough time to take a relaxed look around the Deutsche Golfplatztage.
