In Nürnberg: Germany-wide skills competition for trainee landscape gardeners
- Aspiring champions vie for "Landscape Gardener Cup 2010"
Bad Honnef / Nürnberg. Twelve two-man teams of trainee landscape gardeners are now reaching for the title of "German Champion Team". The dedicated trainees entering for the Germany-wide competition for the "Landscape Gardener Cup 2010" at the "GaLaBau" exhibition in Nürnberg want to qualify for admission to the WorldSkills championship in 2011. The winners of the nationwide qualifying rounds recently organized by the state associations of the Bundesverband Garten-, Landschafts- und Sportplatzbau e. V. (BGL) (Federal Landscape Contractors Association) take part in the two-day German event in hall 2 at the exhibition. The federal "Landscape Gardener Cup 2010" is supported by the German landscape training organization, Ausbildungsförderwerk Garten-, Landschafts- und Sportplatzbau e. V. (AuGaLa). The first three teams receive attractive material prizes and graded monetary prizes - for altogether 2,000 euros. The "German Champion Team 2010" will then compete in the "WorldSkills" championship in London (Great Britain) next year.
BGL President Redeker to open the skills competition
BGL President, Hanns-Jürgen Redeker, opens the competition at 9 a.m. on 16 September 2010 in hall 2. During the total 15 hours of the competition over two days, the trainees prove their landscaping skills, knowledge and capabilities and build a competition garden.
The finale: presentation to winners in hall 2
The winners will be honoured at a ceremony in hall 2 at 7 p.m. on 17 September 2010 and naturally look forward to a big audience. The jury's chief expert Martin Gaissmaier will highlight many an interesting detail about the event in an interview at the presentation ceremony, and trainees will also describe their impressions of the exciting competition. The competition participants will then be invited to the "GaLaBau Nach(t)tisch", the social get-together on the BGL stand 101 in hall 6.
New concept with lots of green in hall 2
A new overall concept has been developed for the nationwide event, with the design emphasis on green. The competition areas in hall 2 are now arranged in a circle so that visitors have a good view of the teams and their creations from the large area in the middle. Seats in this area encourage visitors to stay and follow the progress of the individual competition sites.
Demanding task: constructing the competition garden
The participants will complete various tasks on a garden area of four by four metres, including building a wooden structure, building a dry wall, laying slabs, planting work and paving.
The competing teams:
The competing teams include: Jonas Rombach (Willi Glöckler Garten- und Landschaftsbau, Kirchzarten) and Christopher Bäuerle (Jürgen Wragge GmbH Garten- und Landschaftsbau, Backnang), Christian Dobler and Marco Fükelsberger (both from Gaissmaier Landschaftsbau GmbH & Co.
